Hello Scrap-n-Stamp Family. I know it has been a while since I have blogged (Sorry Renee), but now I should be back on track. Kaitlyn's is back in pre-school and I have a little quiet time two days a week.

Speaking of School, have you checked out our school section? Not only do we have some super cute school paper with pencils, crayons and all the other school supplies. Make your own Holiday day..

Today is Make Your Own Holiday Day... March 26‚ is Make Up Your Own Holiday Day‚ established by the Wellness Permission League.

This special reserved day was designed to intertwine all the aspects of favorite holidays into one fun-filled day or to combine everything nationally recognized holidays are lacking. There are no rules or regulations. The only requirement is that it is specially suited for the individual.

So if you could make your own holiday what would it be? What would you do for your Holiday??

Are you behind in your Scrapbooking and don't know where to start??? Do you get overwhelmed every-time you think about it? Join the club, I have started Kaitlyn's book, but she is now 3 1/2 years old and I don't even have her first year done. I was trying to get motivated to complete the book but was having trouble figuring out where to start. I'm now on the road to completion. Here is what I did:

1. Pick a end point for your book. For me I'm just focusing on Kaitlyn's First year.

2. Decide what you want to scrap. Go through your photos for the time period you selected and figure out what events you want to scrap. Going in chronological order helps. You may have to go through the photos on your computer and the one's you have printed out. Make a list of the pages you want to complete as you go through your photos. Make sure you put the date of the event and whether or not you need to print photos. Remember you don't have to scrap every single moment.

3. Decide where you want to print your photos. I usually use Snapfish.com or Costco.com to print my pictures. I like Snapfish because you can have them sent right to your house, or you can pick them up at participating locations. Costco is also nice because you can set it up to put the event information and date on the back of the pictures. When you print your photos order some 5 x 7 or 8 x 10's, it's nice to have different size pictures when you are Scrapbooking.

4. Organize your photos by page layouts. Once you receive your photos in the mail, or in my case pull out the box of already printed photos, sort them by layout. Something that helps is to get your album and put the photos in the plastic sleeves for each page.

5. Collect supplies. Start with your first page and set of pictures, go through your existing supplies and find coordinating paper and embellishments. Do this for each layout and slide the coordinating papers and embellishments into the sleeves with your pictures. If you don't have a huge stockpile of paper and embellishments bring your scrapbook with all the photos sorted and tucked in the sleeves to Scrap-n-Stamp. We can help you find the paper and embellishments you will need to scrap.

6. Scrap your pages!! Most people like to go in order from the start of the book to the finish. Sometimes I just lack motivation and inspiration, so with Kaitlyn's book I scrap to the corresponding month. So this month I was inspired by the St. Patties day paper, so I scrapped her first Saint Patties day(below) and Easter.

April Showers

Funny story, my mom sent the kids rain boots and I was trying to think of what kind of card I was going to make her, and was contemplating cutting out rain boots on my Pazzle. I hadn't had time to look on the Pazzle, but I happened to go to Scrap-n-Stamp for a crop night and I saw this Three Bugs paper that we just received. It was exactly what I was looking for and of course had to purchase some :-)

I cut out the rain boots, applied glossy accents and added pop-up foam to the back.

I think it turned out pretty cute. This paper would also perfect to scrapbook some outdoor rainy day puddle jumping. come by and check out the rest of the April Showers Collection by Three Bugs in a Rug.

Valentine's Day is over, but we still have some great Valentine's Day paper and embellishments. My favorite is the Crush collection from Bo Bunny. Just think of all the things you could use this paper for.... It's not just for Valentine's Day. You could make a cute Anniversary Card, or if you are throwing a Bridal shower for one of your girl-friends this paper would make cute invites or a card for the bride-to-be. Don't forget you could always scrapbook pictures from Valentine's Day. Here is a quick card I made just for fun.

A week ago I shared my favorite thing. I was thinking I should get the other girls input and share their favorite things. Everyone has such different techniques, likes and insight when it comes to paper craft. I hope you enjoy a few of our favorite things and are inspired to try something new. This week I'm featuring Renee's favorite thing....

I didn't ask her, but by looking at all the projects she does I know she loves to make mini-albums. Whether its Chipboard, acrylic or corrugated she is the master of mini-albums, and is ubber talented. Above are just a few of her fabulous creations. Funny, I went to the store after drafting this blog and was talking to Renee about her favorite thing, and she was busy at work creating a new Princess Castle Acrylic Album.

Favorite things!!! I was working last Saturday and was trying to think of new and interesting things to blog. When I thought maybe you would like to know some of the girls@ Scrap-n-Stamps favorite things, and how they like to use them. We will start with my favorite:

Stickles

Besides that fact that Stickles are so easy to use, they are very versatile. Here are some ideas of different ways you can use Stickles in card making and scrapbooking:

There are a ton more ways to use Stickles. Add them on sticker or chipboard letters to give them an entirely different look. Presidents' Day is celebrated in February to honor two of our greatest presidents, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Here is some great information to share with your kids:

America won the war and picked a new name for itself: The United States of America. George Washington was elected to be its first President.

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12 in 1809. Things were different then. When Abe was a boy, he lived in a log cabin. A log cabin is a small house made out of logs cut from trees. If you are like me you are trying to get your Christmas shopping done so you can get it all wrapped and not have to worry about it last minute. They can be custom designed, so if you have a teenager these are great. We can customize them by high school, sport or any other theme. You have to come check these out. So I thought I try this digital scrapbooking since my sister in law is in town and all she does is digital. I'm all for technology but always so hesitant with digital which meant more time in front of the computer. But seriously, took my 30 minutes and I came up with the awesome creations, so very simple! The best part is I can send it "video" to my family members or I could take it to Scrap -n- Stamp and print all the pages out! Fantastic! Need more info...come by SnS and we'll hep you out!

Elk Grove Turkey Trot

This really doesn't have anything to do with Scrapbooking or Card Making but it is something my husband and I decided to do this Thanksgiving. The Elk Grove Turkey Trot is a 5K / 10K race for participants of all ages and fitness categories. Turnout at the first annual event, held in 2009, was amazing and raised $6700 to support Courage to be You. Please visit the C2BU website to learn more about the ways the money raised through participating in the race went towards the Courage House. We look forward to seeing you on Thanksgiving morning!

To celebrate the end of World War 1 - hostilities ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

US President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed an "Armistace Day" for November 11, 1918. In proclaiming the holiday he said...

"To us in America, the reflections of Armistace Day will be filled with lots of pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and for the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of nations."

In 1954, Armistace Day was changed to Veterans Day to pay honor to those that fell in World War 2. And those words that were spoken almost a hundred years ago, apply even to this day.

Wishing one of our very own Scrap-N-Stamp gals, Sommer (Army helicopter pilot), a very happy Veterans Day. We appreciate that you are here with us "scrappin" away and thank you for the service that you provided to make us safer. The girls at Scrap-N-Stamp thank those that served and those that are currently serving our country. We would also like to thank all of the people that support the armed forces of the Unites States. Especially to the spouses and significant others who deal with long deployments, late nights at the office and other hardships that a military life may bring. Here is another one of my creations for one of my husbands employee's. He is really into tools and gadgets. So I decided to make him a toolbox card. I used my pazzle and created all the hardware on the toolbox and the lettering. I think it turned out pretty good. Brads and pop-up foam also added dimension.

Party for an artist...

Kaitlyn's 3rd birthday is coming and I wanted to make a super cute party invite. But first I had to come up with a theme. Her first year I did cupcakes, and her second was a Halloween Costume party. This year was pretty easy to come up with a theme since she loves to color and paint. So I designed this Crayola box invite below using my Pazzle.

You lift the flap and pull out the crayon's.

I used glossy accents on the end of the crayon's to make them shiny.
Since it's her 3rd Birthday I used three crayon's.

I glued the three crayon's to a piece of black paper and on the back is the party information. I picked Orange since it's Kait's favorite color. And the other two colors just looked good with the Orange.
Here is the back of the invite. I used Orange Ink around the edges and Tattered Angle's spray to give it that painted look.

I copied this one from a fathers day card that one of the girls at Scrap-n-Stamp made, but it works great for a Birthday card too. The one that I copied had super cut brads that looked like screw heads, but we were all out of them at the store.

You know Halloween is right around the corner, and since Twilight is such a huge hit I figure there will be ton's of people dressing up as Twilight charters. So I picked Fearless Vampire Killers as the Font of the month. Also we have Twilight paper at Scrap-n-Stamp!!! We have the paper below and it has Vampire written on the top. The coordinating stickers are available too!

Here is the card I made for Jack, his party is baseball theme, so I thought this would be perfect. You could also use this a party invitation and just put the information on the back of the glove instead of making it a card that opens. Or you can use Kim's super cute idea and cut out the baseballs and put the party information on the back. Either way they are sure to be a hit!!! Happy Birthday Jack, I can't believe you and Kait are already 3.

Here is a great card for the guys. This card was originally designed and created by Lisa, unfortunately she no longer lives in Elk Grove :-( I stole her design and re-made this card. I think it turned out pretty cool. I used glossy accents to make it look like water is dripping down the mug. we can cut the mug out on the Pazzle if you would like to make your own beer mug card.

My mom took Kaitlyn to the Circus when they were in town, so I thought it would be nice to send her a cute Thank You Card. I had an idea in my head, but I wasn't sure I would be able to find the images on my Pazzle, but sure enough there was a circus tent and a cute elephant. I think I'm going to cut out another tent for Kaitlyn's scrapbook. If you need a circus tent for your scrapbook come by the store, you can pick out the paper you like and have it cut to the size you want.

Just another reminder ladies, tomorrow Saturday, September 25th (9am-3:30pm) is the Gakko Craft Fair here in Elk Grove. Get some of your Christmas shopping done early with very unique gifts. My favorite by far is the memo boards painted and decorated in fabulous papers from the store. The boards are really neat they feature a metal surface where you can post notes with magnets and a cork board section. I'm currently going back to school for my MBA. I was doing one of my reading assignments and I came across this in my text book:

New Back 2 School Line...

Just in from Best Creations the Back2School line, it's supper cute. It was a must have for me since my little Kaitlyn just started her first year of pre-school and I'm super excited to Scrap the memories!! We also received some basic glitter paper from Best Creations, it will look great with a wide variety of papers. We currently have yellow, black and two shades of pink available. It reminds me of the Bo Bunny double Dot, except it has glitter!!! You can't go wrong with that. You can see the picture below, but it is sooo much cuter in person.

My husbands boss took all the managers, supervisors and their families to Reno for a weekend. Now I'm not big on gambling, but a free night in Reno with no kids sounded like fun to me. We had a blast. We went to a comedy club, had a great dinner and went white water rafting. It was so much fun, I felt I need to make a fabulous Thank You card.

Aloha "mainland" folks! Our quick trip to Oahu, we met some of the nicest folks in Kailua...a scrapbook store called a A Place in Time! Priscilla and her husband Bill, not only were kind enough to let us in early (before the store open)...but provided so much information on cool techniques. The are the true experts in stenciling. I surf the internet and various scrapbooking websites for ideas and inspiration. A while back I had posted a link on Facebook of a cute idea that I found on Scrapbook.com. It was a layout done using your child's first Onesie or outfit. I bought a shadowbox and used the same concept, so now I can hang it in Kaitlyn's room. I think it turned out pretty good.
