National Handwriting Day

In this day of computers, more and more information, notes, and letters are sent back and forth via a keyboard and cyberspace. But today is National Handwriting day, so swing by Scrap-n-Stamp's Make-n-Take Bar, select a card to make for someone special and reintroduce yourself to a pen or pencil.

According to the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association (WIMA) website "The purpose of National Handwriting Day is to alert the public to the importance of handwriting. According to WIMA, National Handwriting Day is a chance for all of us to re-explore the purity and power of handwriting." January 23rd was chosen because this is the birthday of John Hancock. John Hancock was the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence.

Participate in National Handwriting Day by writing a note or letter to someone. Love letters are always well received.

Acrylic keeping strong in 2010!

Y'up...acrylic projects are still HOT going into 2010. New ideas, new creations...with awesome results. Looking back just last year...here are some BIG hits with are acrylic albums. Wait until you see what we have in store for you soon...

Tip #1 for acrylic projects..use Stazon Ink with rubber stamp images or for distressing the edges. It's the only stamp pad that will dry and "stay on" acrylics. Tip #2, use Sharpie markers, with all the colors they make now...have a blast adding some nice colors with journaling or adding some cool doodling to your acrylic project.

"I have a dream..."

Monday marks the annual national holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Known for his peaceful efforts toward ending racism and segregation in America, Dr. King was assassinated in 1968 at age 39. He would have turned 81. The U.S. has honored the civil rights leader’s life on the third Monday of every January since 1986.

"Thank you Dr. King for being the drum major who was able and ready to lead our nation to greater heights through love and peace."

I love making cards and sending them to loved ones on special occasions. I thought it would be nice to have my own seal or stamp on the back of the card so the recipient would know that card was made just for them by me. I found the perfect website where you can order custom stamps. You can even order a return address stamp for your envelopes. Check out www.paperangel.com to get your custom stamps.
