Sorry for the delay in announcing the winner. But, Congratulations to Betsy Smith for her very Tropical 12x12 layout using the Palm Tree Overlay for her entry. Betsy had a very creative page in that she used different embellishments one of which looks like fish netting to create a tropical look and adding stamped images as well. Oh my Grandma, What big eyes you have.......

Here is my Little Red Ridding Hood at her first Halloween party. She had a blast!!! I can't wait to someday host a Halloween party for her. If you are having a Halloween party this Friday and still need some decorating or favor ideas, I would stop by Scrap-n-Stamp. Our window is all decked out. Renee made Take out boxes into Frankenstein heads, they are super cute and easy. We can also cut treat bags on the Pazzel, or you can just pick up some cute Halloween paper and decorate a paper lunch sack. Debbie would love to show you how.

These witches brooms were on the Martha Stewart Website, they have a ton of great decorating ideas too.

When the Rain Comes...

Crazy weather here in the Heartland! Just a few days ago the sun was shining with the temperature in the 70s. Today we have thunderstorms with a forecast of snow flurries tomorrow! The locals keep saying this year we'll see a cold, hard winter.

Apparently the LadyBugs are anticipating the cold weather too. Last week we began to notice laydbugs in our house. One day we saw two in our bedroom. The following day we had about a dozen in our office. On Monday there were dozens inside and hundreds outside on our house! I went out on to our deck to check it out and was swarmed by them! Eeek! One or two ladybugs are cute. But a whole swarm of them is rather creepy!!!

Anyway, I googled "ladybug season" and discovered they are searching for a warm place to "hibernate." Who knew?!

Here's a small section of my house - imgaine a 3-story 2800 sq ft house covered like this...

Now back to scrappin'! Remember the October Challenge is due to the shop by close of business Saturday October 25th. Details are here...

To help inspire you, here are a couple blogs worth checking out...

For page and card sketches go to So Sketchy!

For fun holiday ideas, tips, and even classes go to Feeling Scrappy! I've registered to take the Sketchapalooza Class - Fun!

It's Fun to be One!!!

I don't know where the time went. Yep, Kaitlyn turned one on Saturday. She had a blast at her party, and enjoyed her cake. I can't believe all the work that goes into a first birthday party, but it was well worth it. Below is the invitation I made for the party. I was inspired by Marilea's cupcake make-n-take. I used paper from Creative Imaginations, and the cupcake stamp is from Hero Arts.

Here's the story...

This fun idea for a layout "popped" in to my head one day. I played with my Cricut Paper Doll Dress-Up & Storybook carts, Cuttlebug embossing folders, and Cosmo Cricket "Haunted" paper. With the help of some brads, googly eyes, Glaze pens, Fun Flock, and some Scrapper's Floss I added the finishing touches to the 'Fraidy Bunch crew.

Check out this blog of a gal from Down Under. Joanne creates files to be cut on different cutting systems connected to a computer - like the Pazzle. She liked my idea and has created her own based on my layout. I've been scraplifted! Cool.

10/14/08 Too many October Babies!!!

I can't believe the number of birthdays in October. My husband Deniz had his 29th Birthday yesterday. Kaitlyn's First Birthday is this Saturday the 18th, and my mother-in-law Agatha's birthday is on the 21st. Wow, that's a lot of Birthdays. And those are just family member's.

Kaitlyn's boyfriend Jack will be one on the 17th. This is the card I made for his birthday. I just love the Imaginisce Penguin Dude stamp. I used Bo Bunny double dot paper, (FYI we just got a huge shipment of all the double dot colors) The Star Struck Dust- Baby - Boy Bo Bunny paper. The balloon is a Hero Art's stamp set. For the finishing touch I used the Karen Foster Dark Ranbow Luster Mini brads.

4 3 2 1 Earth Below Us...

The background paper is from the new Three Bugs in a Rug Playtime line. It's really great for all things "boy." It's all double-sided and you really need two sheets of each 'cause it's all so stinkin' cute! :)

There's some fun details in this layout...I traced over the numbers with a white Glaze pen to give it some shine and texture. Then I used Stickles (Christmas Red) outlined with a white Souffle pen on the title. The rings and stars were cut on my Cricut Expression from Bo Bunny Double Dot cardstock. I popped some of the stars up for dimension. The photo turns/anchors are secured to the page with star brads! The rocket is an acrylic stamp image I colored with Glaze pens. And my favorite part...the rocket's smoke trail! I curled wire around my paper piercer (or paper poker as my friend Julie likes to say), flattened it, and adhered with tiny bits of Glue Dots. (I use Tim Holtz non-stick scissors to cut the Glue Dots.)

I Can See Clearly Now the October CHALLENGE!

Your challenge for October is to use an overlay/transparency in a layout or card. Easy peasy!

The uber-talented Marilea created this lovely card using a Best Creation Inc. overlay, Pink Paislee dotted paper, Worldwin cardstock, Impress rubber stamps, Bohemia gold gems, and some ribbon.

I created this festive layout using Best Creation Inc. overlay, Bo Bunny Double Dot cardstock, Imaginisce "All Kinds of Happy" confetti paper , Bo Bunny Bodacious Brads, Kaiser rhinestones, eyelets, some ribbon, Making Memories epoxy tags, and CTMH alphabet acrylic stamps with Staz-On ink.

Eyelets and brads are an easy way to "adhere" the overlay/transparency to cardstock. You can even hide your adhesive behind an embellishment or photo. Glue Dots work very well.

Get to work! Remember to bring your creations to the shop by the 25th to be eligible for this month's prize.
