4-29-08 Chas We're "Crazy for You"

Chas has done it again! Here's her latest layout "Cutie Pie". She used a new line of paper. (Leave a post if you want to know the name.) The Bazzill edge paper complements the patterned paper well.

In Appreciation For Those That Serve.....

Scrap-N-Stamp has always been a strong supporter of those men and women who serve in uniform...both past and present. With Memorial Day right around the corner, I thought I would post a few pictures from Sommer and Lisa who you may see behind the counter at Scrap-N-Stamp.

Sommer was an Army helicopter pilot who served in several war zones.....hard to believe! I wonder if she thought about scrapbooking while she was zooming along in her helicopter? Here is a picture of her in Iraq....

Sommer's husband, Deniz....also served in Iraq and is still "on call". Sommer has gone from being in charge of an entire "crew" on board her helicopter to making cards and sorting paper at the store!! The next time you're in the store, stop and chat with Sommer at the "bar" and she'll tell you all her war stories....

We are also fortunate to have Lisa at Scrap-N-Stamp. Lisa's husband, Sean is an active duty Naval helicopter pilot. Lisa and her family had the opportunity to get up and close to the Blue Angels at the Capitol Air Show. Her daughter's Flat Stanley got to even go for a ride in the lead jet.....how many Flat Stanley's have had their picture taken with the Blue Angels?! We know of at least one!!

Let's try to take a moment out of each day to thank those that serve. We are honored to have Sommer and Lisa, and their families, as part of our Scrap-N-Stamp family. We hope all the men and women overseas will have the opportunity to come home and continue on with their dreams....if it should be working at a Scrapbook shop or hangin' with the Angels, we wish them good health and a happy, peaceful life.....

4-25-08 A Purfect Layout

I love Sommer's layout! (I'm sure it has nothing to do with being owned by two cats!) The DCWV Pet papers work great as accents on the layout. She used the Pazzle machine for the title, and I just love the ball of yarn. You'll learn that technique when Sommer starts her free technique demonstrations at the shop soon. Keep checking the blog for information and more great layout and card ideas. Hope your weekend is great!

4/23/08 - New product just in...

After a long week of very bad allergies and sinus infections, I am back and blogging again. I went to the store today...it seemed like I was away forever. So many new things and such cute, cute paper. As I was there, one of the newest release for this month came in...Little Yellow Bicycle by Deja Views. Check out some of the new spring 12x12 papers that we have in. The decorative edges are so cute!

In her newest collection, Sharon Ann brings to you the very essence of Spring in a fresh and clean palette of pinks, greens, blues and orange, against a crisp and clean white backdrop. Featuring a sophisticated mix of watercolor art, classic graphic elements, playful patterns and beautiful glitter accents, this well-rounded collection of papers, embellishments and more is perfectly suited for Mother's Day and other springtime celebrations.

4-23-08 Monkeying Around and Baking Up a Baker's Dozen

As promised, here's Sommer's "Monkey" layout using some of Daisy D's new Sock Monkey paper line. I love the stickles on the monkeys and how Sommer incorporated the different papers in the layout. I can't wait to show you the "PURFECT COMPANION" layout Sommer created using DCWV Pet papers! Way too cute!!! Stay tuned....

If you need some creative card ideas...sign up for our Bakers' Dozen Second Batch Card Class this Saturday, April 26 from 10 - 2:30 p.m. You'll make 13 cards designed by "The Girls". To tempt you, check out the picture of four of the cards you'll be making. If you can't make the class this Saturday, we'll be repeating the class on May 17th (as long as the "ingredients" are still in stock!)

4-16-08 Everything's Coming Up Pink

Pink Paislee that is! When we went to CHA in February the very first booth Marilea went to was Pink Paislee. They have some of the coolest papers, embellishments and acrylic stamps ever. Lisa used Pink Paislee papers in this layout. The dinosaur stamp from Marilea's card on Monday's post was from one of Pink Paislee's acrylic stamp sets we have in stock. Stop in to check out the other papers and stamps we carry from this new company.

I know there's less than 2 hours before we close, but if you make it down to the store before 6 p.m. you can make this Dinosaur birthday card that Marilea designed for free! Rose, who took our Disney card class on Saturday, suggested the chocolate "frosting"! Yum, yum!!!
If you don't make it down today, make sure you stop by next Monday for our next free Make-n-Take.

4-12-08 Lisa's Latest Layouts

Here are two of Lisa's newest creations. She used one of Crate Paper's newest paper lines for the "Bloom" layout, and Paper Salon's Sorbet paper for the second layout. Hope they spark your creativity. Whatever your plans are...do something for your creative side this weekend.

4/9/08 - Check out this "Webisode" for stamping techniques on Acrylic Albums!

I was looking through all my emails and came across this one gallery website from Clear Scraps (one of the Acrylic Products that we have at the store). Their newsletter had this link to watch the new Webisode they did on TvWeekle.com!! If you enjoy seeing an acrylic album in action, you gotta check out this demo from Judi with Judikins (For those that don't know her...Judi has been around for years with her stamping techniques and we all know her from all her great products from Judikins!). The one featured here, is using inks and stamps on Acrylic. Once you are finished viewing, if your logged in, you can print off detailed instructions on how to duplicate that same project! What a great tool to have! This will be on our website under "Projects" once it has been archived, so you come back time again and again to get your instructions! Have Fun!

I know this picture below looks familiar to some of you....this was my first album that I used Stazon ink to distress the edges and for stamping too. I had a blast teaching this class! I do have another Mickey Acrylic Mini Album class coming up next week (sorry, it's full)...but we are having this class again, check out our schedule for upcoming classes. Or, another option is...if you have a group of friends that are interested in taking any of our classes, just let us know and we'll hold a private class just for your group and find a day that works for everyone in your party! Call us and let us know! Have a great day and smile...

4-8-08 What a Beautiful Layout

Just a quick post to show off Chas's "Butterfly Kisses" layout. Chas used new Diecuts with a View paper. She cut out and popped up some of the butterflies and flowers and added some of our new May Arts ribbon. The layout is so happy and springy! Chas says she doesn't scrapbook, but I think she needs to rethink that statement.
Make sure you read Renee's post today too.

4/7/08 - The schedule is OUT!

Hurray...we now have our class schedule for April and May 2008! Check it out on our website and you'll have it all right there...the times and description of all the newest creations!

For those that are reading our blog...you know that it's not always me (Renee) writing and showcasing all our cool designs! "The Girls @ Scrap -n- Stamp" always have a few things to say too :-) (Ms Becky, or Ms. Sommer and maybe one day we'll even get Ms. Debbie to write a blog or two) You'll notice at the end of each blog, it will tell you if it's me (Renee) or one of the girls at Scrap -n- Stamp. We'll keep it fun!

Last week was a bit of a mess for me. I didn't blog one bit nor did I get a chance to update our website with our new class schedule. So sorry for the delay!

My latest book that I'm dipping into (and know this about me...I typically do not read), is called "Rich Dads Raising Your Financial IQ" by: Robert T. Kiyosaki (The same guy that wrote Rich Dad, Poor Dad...ya gotta read his books, he keeps it real!). It was just published in March 2008. So over the weekend...my husband and I got to sneak away to the bookstore (how romantic huh!). I was down and not feeling very motivated after a long and busy week. So as I typically do, I go to the "small business" section hoping to find the inspirational book on how to be successful in my business. I fiddle through some books and see this section that had about a dozen of these books...all brand spankin' new. I read the first few pages and couldn't stop. The BIG question..."What's the difference between having "Financial IQ" versus having "Financial Intelligence?" Of course, I thought..."What is he talking about?" I'll leave it at that for now but lets put it this way, after reading up to chapter 4, I want to be "Financially Intelligent" :-) If you need to get a better understanding of why the economy is the way it is today...check out this book. He puts it plane and simple, easy to understand! I did! It's not about the "quantity" of money you have to make you "rich" but really, it's what you do with the money you do have...is what makes you rich!

Sorry, I know it's not scrapbooking or stamping...but it's really what was on my mind. Talk to you soon!

4-2-08 So Many Papers...So Many Layouts

With all the new papers coming in from CHA, Sommer and Lisa are keeping busy creating new layouts. Sommer used SEI's new Dill Blossom paper for her layout. I love the May Arts leaf ribbon she added as an accent. Lisa's "Just Chillin" layout with the new Imaginsce penguin paper is too cute! And just in time for travel pictures, she used Diecuts with a View travel paper for her other layout.
Hope these layouts inspire you to create, and as always, if you need help with your layouts stop by the store.
